keeled over:
you're making me lose myself again.
and you sound jaded -
through a bunch of pixels
i can hear your thoughts.

kneeled down:
my head's spinning
im striking out
wildly
for some form
of self-control,
some semblance
of tape
to hold my
splitting
head[ache]
together
again.

hold me
hug me
hush.
i have been dead to the world for two hours straight. i now have a whopping headache. someone give me an overdose. please.

and brother can run 11 km in 1h 15mins. he is not human.
lanning takes a toll on the spirit :P you get stoned. really, really stoned.

found a christmas card at cyberia that i supposedly left behind. because SOMEone didnt pass it to me. *glare*

amusing quote of the day: "prit'm is a singh unless proven otherwise."

lol............

bits and pieces:

silent sweet susserations
coming through my ear and
out
the other side.

listen to me.
yet advice is not
heeded.

hand on hand
wheeling into the sun
product of your own stubborn mind.

ivy
Entwining 'round your ears and eyes,
Speak no secrets, breathe no lies.
Choking gags of green leafed glory,
Tells instead a different story.

product of rained-in nights and confidences.

i. feel. absolutely. nothing.
btw. the latest discworld novel by terry pratchett, Night Watch, is out. it is good :) vimesy rocks :)
crashed my head on the door frame while getting into the car. nearly broke my neck.
crashed it again on the lamp while ironing.
love myself.

i now have a 3315 that looks like a 3330, thanks to some case switching. yay.

tired. you know why...

went out to the masonic club for lunch :) courtesy of dad...

phoenix

Your avatar has come,
white flame and fire,
ghostly zephyrs surrounding it,
whipping its raiment and
fanning its flames.

i am ready, my Lord.

punish me for my sins,
for your creation must feel pain,
to purge the taint of executed sin.
to live, one must be reborn,
so you melded the flame and the wind,
to one entity.

let the wind blow away my sins,
wash me free.
let the flame come down,
burn me.
un[cert]ainty

i dont belong,
for all the time i've been here.
is it just me,
my mind building walls in the sky?
preconcieved fabrications,
or the truth i never faced?
i never dared to.

pussy-footing
around people.
that's normal.
pussy-footing
around the grey area
of people relations
now that's dangerous.
sooner or later
everything
turns to
sand.

your world of today.

please dont ignore
this tiny cry
this little plea
from the very beaches of certainty

i am only human,
after all...
awk. jaw freeze.
am seriously considering giving up on my music folder. its huge, and i cant think how i organised it in the first place. consequentially its getting a bit hard to place all my files. urgh.
have noticed that my posts seem to get more succint and...well...pointed as i go along. perhaps i now do not feel the need to let everyone know how many times i breathed, where i went....etc. oh well.

mood of the moment - deep blue funk
music of the moment - if i had a choice, it'd be the same. as it is, im listening to saint-saens - danse macabre

incidentally my mom mispronounced preet's name. am slightly cheered by that =)
eventful. day.

ambled around plaza sing and meridian, getting hopelessly lost looking for music essentials. went lanning afterwards, then dragged tim down to claud's place. highly amusing handphone incidents.

brought hammies back. or hamster. 2 died. and the other got sat on. so now i have no hamster. *sigh* no more fuzzy hammie.

music of the moment - keyboard
mood of the moment - resigned, sad.

music of the moment - angel's carol
mood of the moment - patient
images.

of running out into the see, following an enigmatic figure, androgynous (in my mind, perhaps?), running through the salt-warm, blood-warm waves, watching the waves turn clear just before they recede, leaving the murk behind...
let the waves throw you out, and let the undertow drag you back in...

picking stones, tossing them back, keeping them for the beauty they possess in themselves, the beauty they somehow lose after that small moment of wonder, that point and place in time where you pick it up, gleaming, wet from the sand, and possess it. but you cant possess it, that small fragile thing, that will somehow outlast you forever, if only in memory...

you stand in the middle
of that fast-flowing stream,
cold, ice-cold,
running,
and you direct its waves
to your will.

what nature takes years,
eons, to achieve,
you accelerate,
eroding.

but you only know how to destroy.

take one more step,
up to the bank;
take one small step

i'll be waiting there
my little shaper,
drawing patterns in the sand.

curled up in your embrace,
dire? i hopenot,
for i have given all,
my dreamer,
and yet i would give thee more.

i am content
to stay here -
you own me
utterly,
even the semblance
of rational thought i call
myself.

caress my cheek,
my sandman,
and let me die
with your kiss on my lips,
an echo
a dream.
i have drunk a lot these days. now nursing my red wine. *grin* havent gotten drunk yet....:P

desaru was fun. i indulged in sloth. finished reading eco and some economists. its nice to snuggle down in bed when it rains, or the sofa. but i want someone to hug.......*muah*

there was christmas eve dinner organised by the hotel (grandpa's luck didnt wear out - we won 2 hampers and gave back one :P). but i didnt really like the singing, so i went off and sang my own carols. that's my way of celebrating christmas eve i guess :)

*holds up wine glass* merry christmas everyone!

Saturday, December 21, 2002

btw. claud's blog reminds me. LOTR WAS GREAT. lotr 2. the two towers. the cgi was fantastic, like the ent battle and helm's deep. the deeping wall was....well, lets just say that the olympicity was not needed. and they screwed up a few lines. like gandalf's lines were given to eomer (the bit about where wormtongue was to take his prize when the battle was over - eowyn, and how his eyes were always on her), theoden king yells "forth helmingas" and not the proper "forth eorlingas" (the helmingas were the men of westfold). i mean at least get the lines right! gandalf, in fangorn? or rather, meeting merry and pippin?? eh??? else, good one :P

i find it sad though, that theres this whole host of people who are fans of lotr because of the movie, and dont love middle earth for what it is. i mean, theres people who love the movie (who doesnt? i certainly do), but its just the movie, the special effects and all that they like. they dont read the book, they dont understand it, and in a while, they forget about lotr. well, mebbe not so drastic, but still. read the damn book. understand WHY peter jackson (the great :P) wanted to make the book into a movie. love the elves, read the silmarillion, read ALL the damn appendixes, read quenya! its the little details that makes it so fantastic.
yay champagne!!!

got dunked in pool this afternoon - jj's uncle can take on 4 of us no problem. but we dunked him in the end :P

then watched lotr the extended dvd. FANTASTIC. they cut out a LOT of bits. legolas' arrows turn green for some reason.

guitaring and singing tomorrow! :P

Friday, December 20, 2002

whee! just went to the wedding anniversary. first, i felt very exposed. so hail shawls. now, i feel....sloshed. yes, shlosed. 2 cups of red wine, to cups of champagne and a bout half a cup of desserty wine to finish off. cant be botheredto correct the pytos. ypeso. typos. haha.

spam! yay! spamming throughout the dinner. people got up to dance and embarrass themselves. a. dot saw me and started laughing. near the end, she and mom got worried that i wouldnt be able to go for piano lesson tomorrow. auntie dot's my piano teacher. whee!!

Thursday, December 19, 2002

thank you judith for taking care of my hammies!!! *happy* thankyouthankyouthankyou :)
mom is out to feminise me. argh.
i love saint-seans. go dl danse macabre.
supposed to play this, realised was playing jinin's part. *embarassed*

but it sounds COOL. seriously.

and sarah, you've got something due you.

big brother's watching you. REALLY watching you.
hmmmmm.

this is interesting. my homework seems to have grown mystically and i cannot find it. where DO you hide such a paper elephant?

on the other hand, after rummaging around my hands have been scrubbed by this...well...lets call it a bar of soap (all soaps in my mom's bathroom tend to congregate and clump into a nauseating multicoloured mess) my hands smell overpoweringly of dettol. ah well. such is life. am mildly annoyed.

the best part was i was trying to clean my brother's pe shirt. *makes face* stupid boy. he HAS to be a tracker. he HAS to train at macritchie. *grumble*

lotr! whee!
this is ridiculous. im using soap to clean off more soap. and then i need to have MORE soap to clean off the previous soap because it stinks to high heaven. it still stinks, by the way.

excuse me im gonna wash them again.
tired. just. damn. tired.

god help me, im falling.

news flash. CAN ANYONE TAKE MY HAMSTERS HOME? from the 21st to the 25th.

*shrug* im boredish. dont wanna do hw.

damn i feel bad.
my fate is sealed. the cap dress is to be worn. i am going to die. this time there is no anorak to save me.

on the other hand, had informal friendlies today.
started with me leaving rehearsal early because all got to newton early. so after everyone overshot the bp bus stop, we finally got to my house. preetham freaked me out by saying that he wasnt coming initally. he was summarily...shall we say...hurt by the ri crew who were mildly annoyed. we screwed up the motion, which was "this house would embrace mncs". kitson got the "milky nutty chocolate" definition. the others, well, lets just say im not gonna be posting them any time soon. our debate group gave up on the debate and went on to the fundamentals of exploitation :| my brain does not work at all during debates. screw. i am the one who contributes the least to the debate.

after that, pizza and wc3. hooray :) and random bits of chatter :P

diediediediedie.

Monday, December 16, 2002

this is basically an interim time filler until i get my webbie up. hopefully my webbie will be more sensible. *shrug*
little brother wearing suit. laughter all around. which reminds me.

something off the bbc:
"...the vicar told two children that santa claus could not possibly exist because the workload would kill him. tears all round, forcing said vicar to apologise. just one of about 419 stories about santa claus in the papers this week."

sheesh.

very utterly stoned. why the hell am i trying to organise stuff for you people?!!

Sunday, December 15, 2002

and i fell in love with uncle marks jazz guitar =)
its abso-bloody-lutely beautiful. and the strings are smooth. mother of pearl inlay at the 5th, 7th and 12th frets.

you gotta love it.

love miles davis too. high speed chase is good. go dl it.
i have a handphone! whee!!! *does a little jig of pure ecstasy*
although am not too sure that the 3 hour wait was worth it, but well....
*grin* dad thinks that the blue colour of the 8250 is, well...: "do i have to put up with that blue colour?" and "its very o.b."

otherwise, erm. am invited to extremely formal dinner. am very annoyed because it means that i have to actually wear something formal. screw.

am alternately happy and sad at different days. *shrug*

am doing webbie stuff and am alternately disgusted and proud of it.

mood of the moment - abstracted
music of the moment - whatever is playing on my winamp. ranges from miles davis' "black satin" to smashmouth's "road man" to dave matthew's band's "everyday"

Saturday, December 14, 2002

i am just damn tired. i cant lie down now because i'll fall asleep if i do. i hate shelling cockles. blood everywhere. i feel like macbeth. i shall poemise this when i feel like it.

Friday, December 13, 2002

ROFL
hamster update - has punk hairstyle (gelled bottom and fluffy top). well actually its water but, oh well. :) looks cute.
i made spag! whee!!! its damn clumpy though.

went to software hut meaning to get grim fandango...turns out it was due in later in the day. since i hadnt got the vouchers, i decided to go back tomorrow. whee :)

before that went lanning with brothers. came in top in rankings *smug-ish* must get better...

incidentally, go here WARNING: NOT for the faint of heart or deeply religious or easily shocked. you have been warned. i am not responsible for anything that might happen to you as a result of this, or as a result of anything else unrelated to me. whee! :)
btw, do not watch it at night.

intensive household work today. found out that i dont have to iron half of what i had done, and i had done that half. erg.

barley water is an amusing issue in the household. we all dont want to be known as "the pig who took all the barley water" so everyone just pours a little bit into the cup until mom gets annoyed and orders someone to finish it up.

i am also known as the persistent person who foists barley on people.

was lanning today - hooray level 7 dh! must get better.....and learn how to play human....*glares at someone*

Wednesday, December 11, 2002

oh. btw. im the iron maiden of the household. amusing.
its biting the watch. mom's watch. excuse me. it looks like it has a personal little vendetta against it. or mebbe it just looks tasty.
today. hahah.

rehearsals became admin work. got told off for not wearing sch u to sch.

left. then after a few personal admin stuff went lanning. fong and chris were there. incident was highly amusing. stuff include me falling off chair, the "like" issue, kerpal and his dog and jessica. *evil grin*

dinner - regaled with tales of dead bodies (saw one at newton mrt), chasing wasps with feathers (grownups in yunnan do that - searching for wasps nests to eat the larvae), and talking about clothespegs and goldmember. dont ask.

on a brighter note - hamster is fluffy. no. actually it should have been named snowy. it has been excessively talcumed. its head fur has been flattened. it looks like a punk hamster.

and read this
a quote: "One Washington DJ lists the George W Bush talking "action figure" on her list of holiday gift suggestions, right up there with a Victoria's Secret musical holiday thong, which plays a medley of carols at the touch of a button."
the musical thong is "seriously disturbing".
and read the one about the action dolls (tony "the ally" blair, hilarious)

Tuesday, December 10, 2002

whoever uses a pickup line should be shot. especially if it is in chinese.

whoever reminds me of that pickup line shall be shot, killed, maimed, slaughtered and sat on. plus tickled.

mom was very amused.

brother number one was amused. dad mistook him for a dog because he smelled so bad. ("do you smell that dog?")

ice skating is fun up to the point where you start avoiding people. CERTAIN people.

i hate ironing pants. for 6 people. and shirts. they are now damp.

Monday, December 09, 2002

brudder put duku in freezer. last night. dinner at 9.30. chicken stew became chicken soup.

amazingly enough, brudders like that sorta stuff.

Sunday, December 08, 2002

now all my hamsters are talcumed.

i love kailan! hail veggies!

rice rice rice.

rain. bring in washing. excuseme.
hmm. lanning. wc3 withdrawal. must get better. dryad massing! cata rushes! dh killer! whee!

ice skating. and erm, yeah. and i hate you too.

Friday, December 06, 2002

just got my hamsters back. one of them stinks as usual. his cage is full to the brim with sawdust. he looks like a sawdust covered kooshball. the other one is neat and smells nice. apparently he has perfume on him. he smells like a talcum powdered kooshball.

yay. they're still fluffy. and they still bite. ow.
well, im back.

i have lost my journal thingy that i had on the trip which means you wont have to plow through so much so im just recounting the significant events of the day.

day 1: arrival of the fittest
the most eventful and hilarious thing was when the kids saw the bus. did i say bus? i meant relic. honestly, the thing looks like it should be in a museum. im serious. look. lets go through a description of the damn thing. the first impression everyone had was that there was a bus, and it didnt look like the one that was going to bring us from place to place.

so imagine the horror experienced when we found out that this was our transport.

it was green and white. it was probably held together by the paint. there were no cushions. you sat on hard chairs or, in the case of the back seat row, you sat on boards. while the engine was running, it was virtually impossible to attempt to sleep because your head kept falling off someones shoulder, your ear got sore, or your head got numb from all that hitting against the window. did i mention sitting on boards? it meant that you either required a high tolerance for pain, or you needed a well padded derriere (however you spell it). being in the same room with brothers has become useful now - i have quite a high capacity for pain, and a relatively long fuse. hooray.

two quotes that sum it up:
"you are never going to find another bus like it"
"how can they do this to us??!"

we called it the boneshaker. it was quite apt. after a trip on that, you are never the same again. for one, you start to appreciate the sbs and tibs. you also appreciate singapore's smooth roads. yangon (and in fact, the rest of myanmar) have no non-bumpy roads. you get rocks.

the ymca yangon was quite nice - comfy beds. relatively. the strength of the frame is questionable. apparently uncle john sat on one with little joel (a little cute k2 kid. not the cynical one we have here.) and the frame cracked.

hlang thayar is sort of the "slums" of yangon. but the people are happy. seriously. i mean, the kids have toys that they make themselves: they play fivestones (or ratehr seven stones) with pebbles, not the clothy pyramidy things we have, they have the actual wooden tops (and they do a hell lot of fantastic tricks with them, like spinning it on their palm etc) and if you compare that with our beyblade things (which my brother brought along), they are actually more satisfied with them. they have the secret to being happy, and the more possessions we get, the furthur away we go from it. i mean, not that im advocating zen and all that, but they make do with what they have, and they really enjoy school (which the ymca provides). they are happy with their lot, even though they are desperately poor (an average worker in yangon makes about 5000 chads/kyats a month which is about 10 sing dollars. the people there do not even make a fifth of that - the men are out of work. the women try to sell foodstuffs at the market) they are happy.

day 2: i m b
now i know what my mom goes through. did eye check for the old people, and my knees hurt now. kept nodding my head and being overbearingly polite. i now know that "myar" means see in burmese. circle is "o". its really cute :) the kids doing handicraft and learning songs (like christ in the vessel and heads and shoulders) were very heartwarming. an example would be one of the kids coming back for another session (there were 2 sessions, one for the younger and one for the older kids). the organisers were quite worried that there would not be enough presents, but the kid said that he wasnt there for the presents, he was there for the fun. the people there are not happy you are there because they will get presents, they are happy that you are there because you actually came to their village.

makes you think.

day 3: bus torture
i jest you not.
we were to travel 400 km up to shan state, which is really northwest of yangon. thankfully it wasnt on the boneshaker. it was on an AIRCONDITIONED bus. what luxury.

it was damned cramped. there was a mattress on the floor. we took turns using it.

my ass is huge from sitting on the damn chair. and im cramped.

what was a 12 hour journey turned into a 23 hour one.

day 4: shan stuff
shan state. think we went on boat tour to silk factory and stuff. little brother tried to gei kiang and sit on the chair, which meant that he would get the full force of the wind. when i looked back, he was this little bundle of misery, huddled under my dad's sweater. the photo's damn funny. then went to the hot spa thing that boasted hot springs. thing is, it was dark. very dark. so we forgoed it and took boat back. the cool thing was the stars. man, i have never seen stars down to the horizon. and we saw 2 shooting stars, it was that clear. they say that in the mountains it seems that the stars are very near. here, they're not. theyre even further than you'd have thought possible. they're just these impersonal pinpoints of light, and there are so many you cant tell the constellations. we couldnt even find orion. i tried to take photos, but i guess the only way i'll bring this back is in a jar of memories *wistful*

on a more pragmatic note, the boats nearly got lost :P

day 5:sarongserenade
i officially detest sarongs. went for the hot spa, mom made me wear a sarong. nuff said. no picture will be available.

went up to kelaw for a rest after that. that place is damn COLD. your breath freezes, and the streets are wet because its in a cloud at night.
the fish there is very, very good. we were piranas, the way we attacked it. the head of the ymca yangon turned around, and it had disappeared *beam*

left the place at 12am for yangon. bloody bus ride. another 23 hours.

day 6: survival of the fattest
hmm. i now have an intense disliking for bus rides. my neck is sore again. we all bought pillows but have you tried sleeping in a chair with a huge fat pillow? hello mr neckbrace.

sang stupid songs all the way down. need to revise tom lerher :) sec 4 classmates, watch out!

summit parkview is nice. its practically heaven compared to what we've gone through. seems like our lodgings and transport gets better as the holiday progressess.

day 7: shopaholic
nuff said.
shan bags galore and a nice little travelling bag.
brothers now have laser pointers and a damn powerful torch.

day 8: civvies
back to civilisation :)

back to housework. must cook and do laundry. brothers are terrified at the prospect of eating my cooking. last i heard they were attempting to call pizza hut to find out the promotional rates. to tell the truth, im petrified of my own cooking. it looks like an ossified tar pit.

Thursday, November 28, 2002

whoo. debate camp was fun.

of the schools that went, it was ri (duh), cat high, ny and rgs. the girls were, naturally, outnumbered.

first day - icebreaking. much gesticulting and head whacking involved, especially in whacko. not just by the whacker, but by the slip ups as well, such as yelling the whackers name.

then 2 debates. not posting motions. email me if you really wish to know. my team - kitson, varun, mark. xin lin joined later.

have realised i suck so bad. now i know what "dry mouth" means. shall work on rebuttals.

that night was war games. "sadistic seniors", i quote, had a lot of fun. i now officially hate bobbing for pears. in fact, i do not want to see a bloody pear within the next 7 days in a malaria infested country. do not ask. people do know. for those who visit my blog, 2 people know. do not ask me.
there was a screw up as well. suffice it to say, that we got the wrong locker and wasted about half an hour. i assume that people got chewed up. i do not know.

sleeping was amazing. i love concrete. so nice and hard. but i wasnt that cold. the fears were NOT unfounded. just that the sleeping bag was warm.

will post more when i get back.

Tuesday, November 26, 2002

bah. i hate family photos. someone always seems to screw up, but not smiling properly *glares at brothers*, fiddling with a toy *glares at specific brother*, or not smiling at all *glares at dad secretly*.

didnt really get much done during rehearsal, as expected. working on the railroad song is so inane. saint-sans is insane.

debate camp tomorrow..
malarial pills come in useful on friday.

hah. auntie dot has given up on my second piece. now i must play....ANOTHER mozart! yes! another piece! and it still looks really bad! huzzah! love mozart.

this is possibly the last post in about 10 days so good bye all :) i am going off to die of dengue and malaria despite the bloody malarial tablets that i have been given by my mom. love ya'all *muak*

Monday, November 25, 2002

gwaaaah.
laksa without the sauce sucks.
oofkasa.
the aftermath of the party. scoldings. hooray.

debate camp coming up! funfun! my super soaker is coming along! plus my guit.

Sunday, November 24, 2002

oooooh. FULL. laksa. FULL. sotong balls. FULL DAMMIT. DONT STUFF MORE FOOD AT ME!!

anyway. was playing guit during the time i was downstairs. the only contribution i made to the water fight deserves to be described in a leetle bit of detail.....:P

after seeing my younger cousin getting picked on, me and my elder cousin decided to give her some "support".
step 1 - steal plastic bags from maurauding boys (btw, my brothers bought up all the plastic bags of that size in the shop, so yeah, we had enough...)
step 2 - go up to condo and fill a bucket of water. bring to balcony.

you can figure out the rest.

it was time to terminate with extreme predjudice. of course, we aimed to miss. hey, a plastic bag of water thrown can hurt a lot.

it took them a while to figure out where the water bombs were coming from. *evil grin*

we hit the bags. direct hit. on accident. i swear.

the best hit was by auntie nita. WHAM, smack near the leg!

and THEN they told us to stop.

we briefly considered plan b involving a daring escape by elevator. narfle.

oh well.

sick of ps and eyes are square......

Saturday, November 23, 2002

oh great. little bros bday. heres me fixing the lan conn *waves*

my voice is going, thanks to the bloody choir practice :P

excuse me. they're setting up a ps in the living room. must intervene. i should be allowed to play too! have a right....*toddles off*
IM A GOLDFISH!
I PLAY THE GUITAR UNDERWATER!
THE STRINGS KEEP RETUNING!
IM NOT DRUNK!
A SMALL GLASS OF VIN DOES NOT MAKE YOU DRUNK!
GLOOP!

right. gv gold class is cool. and damn ex.

cheesecake is hell to cut.

i like foccacia bread with olives and herbs.

oo. steak. drive through the foccacia bread! killllll!

me is goldfish the foccacia bread slayer!
muahahhahaha........

potter, i reinstate, is a mild disappointment. doesnt live up to the hype. ron makes a good coward :p lucius is cool.

gloop.

Friday, November 22, 2002

ahhh.
i can now skate a bit. as in, without falling off. on the road :)
i still cant ollie, but oh well. i have a long way to go before ollieing 4 cans stacked on top of each other....:|
*grumble*

hmm..
rehearsal went ok :) we ended up drinking milo and coke and watching tv and playing the piano. whee :)

the guitar keeps retuning itself. *glares at person who neglected to mention it*

Thursday, November 21, 2002

ooooo. blogger has driven me up the wall for the last time. im GETTING my webbie NOW.
the post/publish doesnt work. it keeps shutting down. it times out etc...

i am annoyed.

not just because of blogger. see, i needed claudia to tell me where the hell i put my pencilcase (aka in the front of my bag).
and the back of the chair has fallen off. i leaned back, and it broke off. its on the floor now.
it looks pretty pathetic.

on the bright side, im improving my posture.
and my guit has golden strings now *beam*
and i know how to restring now.

first of all.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SARAH!!!!!

*beam*

me and skirts do not go. me wearing skirt is such an occasion that people bring cameras. *grump* ahh well. i got to change back :)

ambling around cinelesiure was interesting to say the least. i have something to say about large ljs cokes. they are annoying.

amazingly enough, i was not hungry. i think i ate too much chocolate covered raisins. *grin* they should have chocolate covered expresso beans...bliss :)

taboo amongst debaters is very, very amusing. tiramisu is nice.

mood of the moment - content
music of the moment - the rain on the railings and the cold wind. i need to shut the window.

ow. my calves hurt.

i think i'll give up on this. im gonna move webbie soon so i can post piccys :)
watched harry potter. hmm. kinda a letdown for me, for some reason. oh well. i have been pessimistic. on the good side, the graphics are ok. the quidditch bit was, as usual, interesting. they took a bit of liberties with the script though. not to spoil it for anyone, but the entrance is...fascinating.

ow.
excuse me. i shall just curl up and die now.

Monday, November 18, 2002

ahhhh. perish the thought of sparkly sequinned dresses and spag straps. perish also (i wish) the thought of pointy shoes. the first ones i can. mental eraser. the second ones i cannot. alas. did not boromir trip on his pointy shoes and impale himself on them? ok, so mebbe that was in bored of the rings, but still...

hmm. havent posted for a while.

this is for yesterday.

went out with sarah for case setting at coffee bean at guthrie. we managed 2 hours until we got stuck, called up a few people, no help, got depressed, ambled around. somehow nothing seems to interest me much now. *shrug*
after that went for night on a bald mountain concert. very fascinating. the fact that i fell asleep doesnt count.
pictures at an exhibition is nice.
after that it was ice-cream at home. haagen daz :)
and during then realised that my mom and her friend know much more about debating than i do, and that their version of debating is totally different, but somehow more effective. i think i shall follow them. screw debate. i detest iraq. i hate saddam. he is bad. i shall spank his ass.

.-------------------------.

today. highlight. the partay. went as a trenchcoat assassin. nearly every other one went wearing black. notable ones:
serene - mad scientist. complete with sooty face and glasses line.
sam fong - a maths textbook. as quoted: "i shall scare the pi out of everyone else"

we watched movies. and movies. and movies. wanted to watch star wars but was overruled. *sigh*.
trenchcoat is damn nice. jinin looks cool in it. i just look like me. dont get it.
nice ice cream. debs sister made vanilla-y ice cream with choc chunks in them. rock on.

i really dont feel like doing anything.

i love sam fongs blog. where does she host it?

mood of the moment - acedia
music of the moment - crickets and the sound of my[self] hitting the ground, playing to a world that never ends, and yet incarcerated in my gold coffin, contortionistic. draco wings, floating on thin air, tatooed in my brain, and on my arm.
i still have the scar.

oh yeah. report books.
l1r5 of 13. EVERYONE got 13. dunno why.
msg is 2.90.
drastic deprovement.
HAHAAAH!!! SKOOLS OUT!!!

the joy, the euphoria, the happiness....the sleep. ooh. ya right. i have a lot of sleep to catch up on and so little time to do so.

today went to lord of the flies. it was very interesting, considering i hadnt read the book. salman and augustus were very good :P augustus was very good in the portrayal of simon and salman was suitably confused :) it was, i quote, very al fresco. it was in the space directly outside the acjc lobby with lots of leaves and twigs. how cruel. and we're supposed to be clean and green people. ah well.

then ambled off to holland village for food. waiting for the bus took a good half an hour for a 5 minute bus ride. oh well. the talking was amusing. kaimin had a very...erm...strange classmate. lets leave it at that.

at coffee bean and tea leaf - had pasta. yum. that was dinner. at 10. pm. jinin and zheng had a brief argument about croutons, after which zheng was unofficially titled mr crouton. ahh the amusement.

small talk is good.

attempted to get lost by not going down 6th avenue back to sch and home, but by going down holland to farrer and from there to bukit timah. it worked. hooray.

hmm. posting is good. i think. hahha.

more holiday hw. mentorship can be not a good thing.

ooh. nice visualisations. now everything on my desktop and style is blue. even the visualisation which is damn nice. whoo! a compilation of all the best visualisation artists out there! :)
except my desktop, which is damn weird because when the comp is shutting down, all you see is the desktop and the bg is a little bit freaky. kinda like ghost freaky. i mean, its dark all over and you have this strange painting luminous on the desktop. whoo.

claudia is a slavedriver. self-proclaimed, too.

rehearsals every day for december. whoo.
my brothers are watching spongebob squarepants.

oh the inanity.

there is, as usual, no god.

then again, they have a sister who plays mindless games like mindsweeper when bored, so i shall just stop this train of thought right here.
ow. F. ow. F. ow.

skateboarding is fun. up to the point where the skateboard does not get off the ground but you do. multiple times.

the skateboard also loves my shin. it hit it multiple times too. i stopped after the minorly serious one. first impression: "ooh. i hit my shin and now theres this lovely indentation there. did i gouge my bone?"
then the pain.
anyone who wants to see what burst capillaries look like, just ask me. in case of excessive bleeding and stinging pain, please press the flavin button. yes. the one that turns my hamsters yellow.

excuse me. my bruise is turning a little yellow. i must now wait for it to turn green so i can put more flavin.

Wednesday, November 13, 2002

no, i am not going to get a call from the spca.

and the uv light is me hypothetically speaking. i dont want my hamster to suddenly come down with a case of skin cancer.
the hamster has turned an interesting shade of fluoroscent yellow.

maybe i overdid it on the flavin.

but it was in a fight. its slightly worrisome when your brother comes up to you with two hamsters in hand(s) and says "the hamsters have been in a fight" and you check for injuries and your hamster has bite marks all over its stomach and a bloody foot. as in a foot that's bleeding. hamsters always have feet. most of the time.

so the hamster gets its annual bath early and has flavin swabbed all over its tummy and foot and now i no longer have a brown koosh ball but a fluroscent yellow one. if i put him under a uv light he's gonna glow. and if he curls up in his little yellow food bowl he's got good camoflage.

dont wanna talk about school. school so annoying. no one pays attention anyway. everyone's just waiting for friday...lalalallalalalalala. bah.

whoop de doo. its better.

blasted thing.

i do not give a shit about this any more. not today, at least.
now something's wrong again
ahh thats better. i no longer have this large block of blue covering up half the page of my poor bloggie.
crap. somethings wrong with the bloggie.
this is bad.

the only self-improvement i am about is about my blog. and attempting to get a 6pac. hahah.

to annoy all of you, i shall say that i am fat.

i shall now attempt to metaphorically pig out on chocolate.
by the way. just for reference.
i jabbed myself in the back of my throat today.
lesson learnt - choclairs, even eclairs, are not to be eaten while wearing retainers. they stick to the plate.

yes, i know you needed to know that.
oh. have i mentioned that saturnius looks like someone i know. im not gonna name names.
he also looks very gay, but then again its because he wears eye shadow and has a funny hairstyle.
"titus" is SOOO good.
but damn gory. in a very dramatic way. like when lavina had her tongue cut out and her hands cut off and replaced by twigs, it looked damn real (blue screen effects, or rather, blue gloves). and she couldnt speak (you DO need your tongue to speak - it forms the words). so when marcus the tribune went up to her and asked her why, she opened her mouth, and blood started spilling out from her mouth in slow motion which explained why she kept her mouth shut all the time instead of yelling.

and the ending rocked.

ahhh. its much better than the horror movies that you see nowadays. those are mindless. really.

"where the dog goes...*silence, broken by kids attempting to bark*
and the cow goes...*silence broken by kids attempting to moo*
and the bear goes...*silence broken...you get the idea, dont you?*

enthusiasm mediocre - keep in mind the animals are all dead!"

and the pig goes...*again.....*

SHADDUP!!

and the crow goes "caw!"
i guess it was alive..
you can see all this,

i am feeling lame. ignore the above post.
oh wonderful. i force myself to go for training and.....*drumroll*
there IS NO training!!!

hurray. wasted 1.5 hours of my life.

tired...and seriously considering starting a drive for self improvement. you all are bad influences. scary ones too.
i SO do not want to go for training.
got guns...*beam*
i was kinda hoping for silver, but they're brown, so oh well, they're guns all the same.
*sigh*
oh well.

has any kind soul borrowed my jazz moods cd? i KNOW i lent it to someone after i lent it to ms lim so..WHO.
went. out.

had to go to auntie mary's for the piano thingy. we were, as usual, very dead. the hungarian rhapsody was, incidentally, bad. badbadbad. i stoned so bad it sounded awful. stoning while playing is bad. hahhah. and i need to work out take 5 by this week. whoopdedoo. listening to it now. hopefully it shall be subconciously implanted in my brain and i shall be able to recite it from memory. ahaha.

then it was a mad skitter down to kino to see mentor, only to find that i couldnt find them because i was late by upteen minutes. SO. am dead as well.

so ambled down to borders to case set with sarah and preet. we ambled down to starbucks where sarah managed to get preet to treat her to food because apparently he owes her and jinin a treat. i was not privy as to the reason WHY. after much grumbling, preet passed sarah a note, saying that it was all hers to use. we took a good look at it. it was orange. which meant $100. sarah was flabbergasted. there is no other word to describe her face. preet did a double take, yelled "wrong note!", whipped out a 10 dollar note, muttering something about how the 10 dollar note was more suited to the situation at hand.

sarah was quite amazed, so to speak.
i was, as usual, amused.

at least we got some iraq done.

quote from mr bean, the movie - "there is no god."

music of the moment - take five, dave brubeck
mood of the moment - amused. what else?

Saturday, November 09, 2002

and here is today's post.

went over to wei's house to celebrate his birthday.
interesting. say no more.

met sarah on the overhead bridge.
we need to case set.
we are so dead.
diediedie.

i seriously do not feel like posting.
hah. here is yesterday's post.

went out on the SAM trip. very interesting...first went to dan ryan's for food..the portions were smaller than i remembered them. then again, i must have grown a bit...
claud, me, ju and sarah shared stuff. the other person managed to finish the food.
we were, to put it simply, amazed.

then it was an amble to borders, where i read the last hero, this time the WHOLE thing. apart from the last few pages because they were dragging me off to go to the SAM. quite fascinating....we ambled through the exhibition on nudes then went up to the exhibition on maths in art...which was very, very fun :) after attempting to create a moat around judith's castle, we ended up creating this throne-like thing which we sat on and brainstormed for ideas for judith's syf play thing and other om stuff.
suffice it to say that if you had toddled in our wake, you'd have seen 3 feet tall football players squishing other relatively smaller ones and referee-cum-javelins.

after a brief stop to mph, we parted ways. so theres me going up to the national library and reading american gods before i gets home.

thats about it. not in the mood to post more.

hyperhyperhyper.

had caramelised sweet potato when jinin came over.

as she put it - "its just sugar with a dusting of yam [sweet potato]!"

whee!

sugarsugarsugarsugaarrrrrr...
a thought occurs.

what does egg white on satay taste like?
courtesy of the satay herself...
rereading watership down which sarah has returned to me after FOUR years. *glares at sarah*
forgotten how nice it is.

lao shi tried to play taboo in chinese, which created much amusement for all. taboo has become a bit dull since we know all the words...we kept rehashing the old ones.

am very, very amused that claud and satay are actually taking my advice on a new use of eggs. i just wonder what they're doing with all those egg yolks now...
probably making crossants/crossaints/however you spell the damn things.

i promised, and here's the resutlt for your amusement or disgust, whichever you prefer:
(you can actually sing this one)

db8er boi - a flik by claudia. forced to rhyme by sonia.

he was a third
she was a first
can i make it anymore obvious?
he was a geek,
she ruled the day
what more can i say

he wanted her
she'd never tell
but secretly she wanted him as well
but all of her team
would roll their eyes -
they had a problem with his POIs

he's a debater boy
she said see you later boy
he was just too much geek for her
she had good strategy
her points were something to see
but she needed to come back down to earth

ten years from now
she sits at home
doing her research
she's all alone
she turns on TV
guess who she sees...
yep, he's campaigning for GRCs
she calls up her friends
they already heard
and they say his rallies just rock the world
she tags along
and stands in the crowd
points at the man that she turned down

he's a debater boy
she said see you later boy
he was just too much geek for her
now hes a rising man
soon to be your next PM
now do you see how much he's worth?

sorry girl, but you missed out
look at his portfolio now
i am more than just his friend
this is how this story ends
too bad that you couldn't see
see the man that boy could be
there is more than meets the eye
you missed potential deep inside

he's just a third,
and i'm just a first
can i make it anymore obvious?
we make a great team
havent you seen
how we rock the debate world...

im with debater boy
i said see you later boy
i'll be waiting at home for you
ill fix up your policies
we'll rock worlds, and the JGs
your debate dream really came true...

I HAVE A BOARD!!!
admittedly it looks like a horde of hungry hamsters with a taste for paint had at it, but still, its usable :)

went to KAP for lunch sorta. amusing indeed. went with sarah and claud to meet up with ju and a certain person. claudia's book caused much amusement. and horror. claudia was described as a w***ing ir******on. in judith's words: "these words actually EXIST?""

so ANYWAY. it was raining. we made our way to sarah's house. i got barely wet. considering i was wearing the bedsheet that becomes transparent when it is wet. then again, the damn thing is semi-waterproof. if you spill water on it, for the first half a minute you can literally pour it off.
at least I didnt step in water while getting into the car. *grin* unlike some people.

attempted to case set for iraq. ended up checking blogs.
rasin with apfle strudle is very interesting.
must get GUNS.

say hello to the cheque checker, medicine scrounger and general handyperson.
parents left just now. guess who had to help them write checks, look for medicine and stuff like that.
and after that, had to do the stake thing for amanda. its right in front of me now, and its a bit iffy, but heck. i couldnt really sharpen it because i had to be able to take it out without damaging my bag and it had to pass the powers-that-be's inspection test. which, of course, did not include sharp pointy stakes.

have just remembered more taboo definitions that i have not posted.
kiss: what you do when you love someone and want to do something to his cheek
soft spot: erogenous zone
DONT ask.

music of the moment - tracy bush - Hello WarCraft
mood of the moment - spaced out and amused
*utters swearword*

the bloody quiz thing forgot to close the link.

had a brief session of wondering WHY the words in my blog were blue and turned orange onMouseOver.

find your element

fascinating.
think about it.

chinese. very amusing. suffice it to say that we were discussing sarah's birthday party as usual, and we were wondering what else to play besides the given few. we decided that truth or dare was dangerous, especially if a dare was for someone to kiss someone else. the general consensus was that:
a) i was not to play such games
b) if you're gonna do that, play spin the bottle (suggested by claud).

its a bit hard to use sarah as a pillow on account of her having a rather rounded back when she is resting her head on the table. my head keeps falling off. and she tends to have a very strange breathing rhythm. whenever i just about manage to find somewhere where i can rest without sliding off she takes a deep breath and makes me flail for safety. *glare*

claudia has a new book. its about the depraved and insulting english language. highly amusing. we were very corrupted. do not ask about anything pertaining to jinin, sms and a particular specific word.

Monday, November 04, 2002

was supposed to wake up early to go exercise.
couldnt be bothered.

went to jinin's house to find a mini riot. apparently the whole family trooped down to her house. so we attempted to play piano in the midst of it all. general conclusion - auntie mary was gonna kill us. after a while of practicing, we trooped out and hailed a cab to take us there.

what a nightmare. i should have guessed when he simply waved us in before i'd finished telling him where we wanted to go, but nope, must be blur. so we got in, and he started asking us questions like "where are you going?", "what for?". once it was discovered that we were going for piano, "ohhh! you like richard clayderman or not? he very good one! world class you know! my idol!" and stuff like that. all through the entire trip. in chinese. he also commented on how ny was supposed to have good chinese, but our chinese was very bad, so to speak. jinin and i were slightly out of our depth on that.

to top it all off, he didnt bring us to margolioth drive. he brought us to margaret drive. in queenstown. north buona vista. we gave up on him, and hailed another cab, who, understood our plight and brought us to the right place, while pointing out the need to state reference places and roads near the destination and also asking us what road we were on. thank god for such people :)

richard clayderman may play well, i may like his songs, but i am NOT ever gonna make him my idol. never was, never is, never will be. nada. zilch. 8 bucks down the drain, man :P

amazingly. i went to the science centre. it was this exhibition thing where they built animals out of robots (eg ears are microphones, eyes are cameras etc). and THERE, i found out i had jinins hp, having been entrusted with it for safekeeping, which i did a bit too well. :|. so dropped it off after the trip.
ate a lot of popcorn. hooray candyfloss. goodbye teeth.

mom and dad away from tmr as is little brother. *sigh*.

gods i have degenerated.

whoo. got home late. lessee...yesterday.

notable fact - got home after tuition at 11 am to find out that no, sam did not have an extra black top, so i went panic shopping. ambled round giordanos muttering "black top, black SLEEVELESS top". ended up getting some sorta mlm exercise top, which, well....put it this way. when i went for the blasted clean and green thing, mandy said "sonia, if we screw up, just do this *bends over*".

i am SO staying away from that man. *acts bimbo* i mean, its like, i was like, totally walking around, going like, i hate the neckline man.

oookay. enough of that.

we didnt do TOO badly for the stupid thing, i think.

regarding the jazz concerts. parents late for picking me up, so gave me time to borrow a book from the library at woodlands civic centre to supplement the ones i borrowed earlier in the day. wynton marsalis was very, very good. the "educational" concert in the afternoon charmed the entire audience. the music was good, and after that the q&a session was very, very amusing. example:

"whats the highest note you can play on the trumpet?"
wynton marsalis: "ok." *takes trumpet, takes a deep breath, and pretends to blow (contorted face and all that)*
"now you may not hear that, but theres some dogs goin' crazy outside!"

warning. utterly boring description of the concert. for my own ref, but you're welcome to use this as a cure for insomnia

the night concert was great. ubergreat. apart from wynton marsalis, the drummer was FANTASTIC. he has got style, and he played the drums damn well. i was late by about 20 minutes, but was in time to catch Moanin' and Arabia, and a few other compositions by the band members themselves. personal fave - the big train. the band stamps on the ground, double bass keeps the rhythm, and they mimic a train at the beginning. you could hear shoults of "tickets" and some wag going "maaaah!"
the trumpets and trombones used mutes to mimic the whistle/alarm-thingy (it was only a matter of time before someone came up with THAT idea) and the end saw another bleat and a final "hsssh" at the end of the decrec when they pretended to blow, and just let the air out.

end of boring description. thank you.

--------------------------------------------~~--------------------------------------------

today.

went to church. ended up in the market for breakfast, after kelvins failed attempt to get everyone to go to serene centre.
after that went for choir practice, which was important as it was the last one. thing is, uncle marc wanted to make a speech/talk thing, but no one seemed to be listening. got told to stop playing take five on the piano, so i stopped, but it didnt seem to do good as whoever told me to shut up didnt shut up themselves. it got to the point when everyone's tempers were getting a little frayed, to say the least, and everyone was very pissed.
when jj and i had to leave, it didnt seem to be getting anywhere. apart from deciding that we'd announce that uncle marc was taking an "indefinate break" (and even then, im not sure how that turned out) and that the choir really seemed to be dying out (it was admitted that it had been dying out for the past 3 years),...well...*shrug*

i dont think im gonna elaborate more on this. its not a happy subject.

went back to jjs house, stoned, read my library books, tried to fix her comp.

argh.

telnettelnettelnet. haha.

2 things to exult about.

1. Jessye Norman's voice is SOOOO good! her rendition of gershwin's song ("hush little baby, dont ya cry") is fantastic! its practically a definative recording of the song. put it this way. if she can get a rather recalcitrant and inhibited singapore audience to actually give her standing ovations for each encore, she is GOOD. i MUST borrow the cd :) *toddles off to jj's house*

2. xlab. IT PASSED! ok. well, it seemed ok, but from prior experience things that seem ok are usually NOT. so, no rejoicing until later. plus, we STILL have to work on it. ok. see. first of all, we didnt screw up the presentation TOO badly - managed to cover up some slipups (allow my ego to expand a bit here :P). also, they didnt lambast us TOO much. a pity the firewall stopped us from demo-ing our project :(

had rehearsal, coordination problem, remniscent of us 4 kids getting lost and mom in a bad mood. 'nuff said.
